THE "EAGLE ROCK" LEGEND
One recounted legend states that long ago a band of Tongva (Gabrieleno) Indians gathered at the foot of the Eagle Rock, when out of the sky a giant eagle swooped up an infant member of the tribe. The Indian Chief summoned the Great Spirit to intercede. The result was that the eagle lost his ability to fly and crashed into the Rock where his shadow remains forever.
